Linux
Celestial was established in 2001 with the main objective
of building skills and expertise in the embedded
Linux domain.
Over the years, Celestial has grown
rapidly to a size of more than forty employees
and has established offices in Canada and India.
The software development activities are
carried out in Bangalore and New Delhi, India.
The
four Business Units established within Celestial
are all growing at a rapid pace. The activities
of each of the Business Units are as under:

Products
Distribution Business Unit (PDBU)
This unit is the sales and technical support
arm of the company.
Celestial is the only authorized
distributor in India for MontaVista
Software, Telesoft International, NextHop
Technologies, and Embedded Planet. Today, we
have a customer base in excess of sixty well
known, world-class organizations.
Many of these customers continue to
work closely with our sales and technical
support team, and depend on us to provide
effective and timely support for their
embedded Linux related requirements.

Embedded
Linux Business Unit (ELBU)
ELBU has evolved as a separate business unit
due to our long and successful association
with MontaVista Software, the world’s
leading embedded Linux software company.
Led by an experienced staff, ELBU
offers consulting services on embedded Linux
to customers of MontaVista Software as well
as other open source embedded Linux users.
The list of services provided under
ELBU include corporate training, device
driver development/ porting, LSP
development, porting embedded Linux to
custom hardware, open source based
implementation of Linux, on-site technical
support/ debugging and troubleshooting,
Linux kernel enhancements and modifications,
and firmware optimization and fine tuning.

Video
Streaming Business Unit (Yantra BU)
Yantra BU is involved in the development of
a Video Streaming Client engine product
software solution, called Yantra.
Yantra is targeted at the Mobile and
Digital Home applications market. The Yantra suite is designed as a modular solution, and
is highly portable with a set of
well-defined APIs. Yantra includes comprehensive support for all the
established Video Streaming protocols –
RTSP, RTP, SDP, and RTCP.
Yantra can interface to a variety of
different codecs like MPEG2, MPEG4, H.264,
WMV, and others.
Software decoders are provided with
the Yantra product.
Integration with a variety of
commercial Video Servers is supported for
the Digital Home application market, and
session establishment can be maintained
through SDP, HTTP, or proprietary
implementations.

Embedded
Java Business Unit (EJBU)
EJBU
is responsible for porting IBM’s J2ME
solutions on various embedded products.
Requirement for JVM is rapidly increasing in
the Mobile and the Digital Home applications
market. EJBU has successfully
implemented CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0 on
embedded Linux, for a portable handheld
device. EJBU also has implemented the
CDC configuration, Personal Basis Profile
and Foundation profile for an IP Set Top Box
solution running embedded Linux. As an
authorized technology partner of IBM,
Celestial also undertakes complete TCK
certification for all J2ME porting work.
