Celestial's Background

Celestial Systems is a privately held company founded in 2001 with a focus on addressing customer requirements looking at Embedded Linux as an alternative to the proprietary RTOS technologies in existence then.  Ever since, Celestial has evolved into a strong Embedded Linux software solutions company.  Right from its inception, Celestial has attracted a cohesive team of career-oriented, highly motivated, talented and enthusiastic people who associate company success with that of their own.  With their enthusiasm and experience, they continue to ensure that each and every customer engagement is a complete success.

Celestial has established business partnerships with leading embedded solutions providers.  The current list includes MontaVista Software (Embedded Linux), NextHop Technologies (Routing software solutions), Telesoft International (Telecom signaling stacks), and Embedded Planet (for PowerPC based embedded solutions).  These partnerships allow Celestial to offer complete solutions to its customers, in specific areas like Telecom, Datacom, Consumer, etc.  Celestial is working on growing this list of partnerships in the future, with an objective to address an expanded set of customer requirements.

In addition to business partnerships, Celestial also offers software development services to its customers.  Most of Celestial’s embedded customers seek services support from Celestial.  Celestial offers support services based on Embedded Linux technology, including, porting of Linux kernels, developing device drivers and firmware for custom hardware solutions, integrating/developing applications on the Embedded Linux platform, etc.

Yantra, a Video Streaming Client application is developed by Celestial to address the emerging needs of video streaming in Embedded Devices such as Set Top Box, PDA and Mobile Handset etc. Yantra is a complete client engine solution suitable for Mobile and Digital Home market.

Celestial is partnered with and have technology agreement with IBM Pervasive Computing Group to promote IBM’s embedded J2ME solution for embedded Linux customers.  Celestial is authorized to license the software to customers, undertake porting projects to run the solution on custom hardware, and also do TCK certification for custom ports of J2ME.

Celestial’s current marketing activities are managed from Canada and India.  North American and European sales opportunities are handled from Canada, while Asian sales activities are jointly handled from Canada and India.  Management is continuously working on growing sales presence for Celestial in countries like Taiwan, Korea, Japan, and China in the future.

As a statement of Celestial’s success, the company has established an impressive portfolio of customers, which include some of the world’s leading names in the embedded industry.  This includes Semiconductor vendors, Telecom and Datacom equipment vendors, Consumer Products vendors, etc.  We are confident of satisfying the embedded software needs of many new customers in the future, and adding them to our prestigious list of existing customers.
