Celestial follows a strict quality process for implementing the J9 VM on any platform.  The main steps involved in the process are:

1. Define Target Platform environment – Hardware/ RTOS/ Tool chains
   
   

2. Complete milestone checklist  
   
   

3. Set target platform and Setup target platform tools 
   
   

4. Generate and Test Target image – calling conventions test  
   
   

5. Generate and Test RTOS image – test system calls to RTOS
   
   

6. Generate and Test VM Image – File I/O, sockets, threads, mem alloc, graphics
   
   

7. Generate VM image with applications
   
   

8. Select Reference, Development and Production Platforms
